Sometimes when you start writing a new post in WordPress, some or all of the writing and formatting icons are missing from the editor. Follow these steps to fix it.
1. Check the toolbar toggle #
The advanced formatting tools (for text and paragraphs) are hidden when the extra toolbar is collapsed. Click the Toolbar Toggle icon to show them again.
2. Clear your browser cache and cookies #
Old cached files or cookies in your browser can cause this. Open your site in a browser you have not used before to check. If that fixes it, clear the cache and cookies in your usual browser and log in again. See how to clear the cache in all browsers.
3. Check your plugins #
Plugins cause most problems in WordPress, both on the site and in the dashboard. Deactivate the plugins you installed just before the problem appeared. If that does not help, deactivate all plugins and check again, then reactivate them one by one to find the cause.
