An email sending problem can differ from one site, device or internet provider to another, so first find out where the problem is.
1. Read the error code #
When Outlook fails, it shows an error code. Searching for that code usually tells you the cause, and often it is simply a wrong setting.
2. Test your account in Webmail #
Log in to Webmail with your email address and password and try sending and receiving a message. See how to log in to Webmail.
- If it works in Webmail, your email account is fine and the problem is in Outlook’s settings.
- If it also fails in Webmail, the problem is in the account or the server. Contact our support.
3. Check the Outlook settings #
- Incoming and outgoing server: mail.yourdomain.com
- Username: your full email address
- IMAP port 993 with SSL/TLS (or POP3 port 995)
- SMTP port 465 with SSL/TLS
- My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication is ticked
See the full guide: Outlook email settings.
Some internet providers block outgoing port 25, which is another reason to use port 465. If you still cannot send, try another internet connection to rule out your provider.
