Plugins add features to WordPress, but a faulty plugin can make your site very slow, show errors or take it down completely, and even lock you out of the dashboard. Here is how to disable all plugins without the dashboard.
- Open File Manager in cPanel (see how to use File Manager), or connect over FTP.
- Go to the folder where WordPress is installed. For your main site this is public_html.
- Open the wp-content folder.
- Rename the plugins folder to another name, such as plugins-off.
All plugins are now disabled. Log in to your dashboard, rename the folder back to plugins, then activate the plugins one by one from the Plugins page until you find the one causing the problem.
