Enable SPF and DKIM (and ideally DMARC) for your domain from cPanel, then Email Deliverability; send from an address on your own domain rather than a free email address; and avoid spam-like bulk messages.

Why your messages land in spam

You may notice that your messages reach the inbox at Gmail but land in spam at Outlook/Hotmail, or the other way round, or go to spam everywhere. This usually has nothing to do with your hosting working or not: it means the email providers do not yet trust your domain as a legitimate sender.

Think of it like a letter delivered to your home by an unknown person with no postal stamp: you might accept it, but you would not trust it. Gmail, Outlook and Yahoo treat unauthenticated email the same way and often move it to the spam folder automatically.

How to fix it

1. Authenticate your domain with SPF and DKIM. These DNS records prove that your server is allowed to send email for your domain and that messages were not changed on the way. In cPanel, open Email Deliverability; it shows the status of SPF and DKIM for each domain, and you can fix them with the Repair button. If your domain’s DNS is hosted elsewhere (for example Cloudflare), add the records shown there to your DNS zone.

2. Add a DMARC record. DMARC tells providers what to do with messages that fail SPF or DKIM. A simple starting record is a TXT record for _dmarc.yourdomain.com with the value v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:you@yourdomain.com.

3. Send from an address on your domain. Contact forms and WordPress should send from an address such as noreply@yourdomain.com, ideally through SMTP authentication (for example with an SMTP plugin in WordPress), not from a free Gmail or Hotmail address.

4. Avoid spam-like content. Do not send bulk messages to people who did not ask for them, avoid misleading subjects and too many links or images, and include a clear way to unsubscribe from newsletters.

5. Monitor your reputation. Google Postmaster Tools and Microsoft SNDS show how these providers see email from your domain.

Learn more about spam in what spam is and how to protect yourself.

Related service: Hyyat Host business hosting includes professional email on your domain with a higher sending limit, from $77/year.

In short: Emails from your website usually go to spam because your domain is not authenticated with the email providers (Gmail, Outlook/Hotmail and Yahoo).
