# How to Uninstall Webmin on Linux

**In short:** To remove Webmin from a Linux server: on RHEL, CentOS or Fedora run rpm -e webmin if you installed it from an RPM package, or /etc/webmin/uninstall.sh if you installed it from a tar file. On Debian or Ubuntu run apt-get --purge remove webmin, and on Solaris run pkgrm WSwebmin.

Connect to your server over SSH as root (see [how to connect to your server over SSH](https://www.hyyat.com/en/knowledgebase/how-to-connect-to-a-server-via-ssh/)), then run the command for your system.

## RHEL, CentOS, AlmaLinux and Fedora

If Webmin was installed from an RPM package:

```
rpm -e webmin
```

If it was installed from the tar file on the Webmin website:

```
/etc/webmin/uninstall.sh
```

The script asks for confirmation, stops Webmin and deletes its files:

```
Are you sure you want to uninstall Webmin? (y/n) : y
Stopping Webmin server ...
Running uninstall scripts ..
Deleting /etc/webmin ..
Done!
```

## Debian and Ubuntu

```
apt-get --purge remove webmin
```

## Solaris

```
pkgrm WSwebmin
```

**Tip:** after removing Webmin, close its port (10000 by default) in your firewall.
