# How to Manage DNS Records for Your Domain

**In short:** If your domain is registered with us without hosting, you manage its records free in the client area: Domains → My Domains → click the domain, turn on "DNS Host Record Management" under "Addons" if needed, then open "DNS Management" in the sidebar, add records (A, CNAME, MX, TXT) and click "Save Changes". If the domain uses our hosting, records are managed in cPanel.

## Where do you edit your DNS records?

- **The domain uses our hosting** (nameservers r71 and r72.hyyat4host.com): edit records in cPanel → Zone Editor. See [logging in to cPanel](https://www.hyyat.com/en/knowledgebase/access-cpanel-from-client-area/).
- **The domain has no hosting with us** and you want to point it to a site or email elsewhere: use DNS Management in the client area as shown here.

 **Important:** records on this page only work when the domain uses the registrar's DNS servers, not another host's nameservers. If unsure, open a [support ticket](https://www.hyyat.com/en/knowledgebase/open-support-ticket/) and we will set it up. The service is not available for Saudi .sa domains.

## How to manage DNS records

1. Log in to the [client area](https://www.hyyat.com/en/knowledgebase/explain-how-to-enter-the-client-area/) with your email and password, or with the Google account linked to it.
2. Open [Domains → My Domains](https://www.hyyatdomain.com/clientarea.php?action=domains&language=english) and click the domain you want.

1. If **DNS Management** is not in the sidebar, open **Addons** and turn on **DNS Host Record Management**. It is free.

1. In the sidebar open **DNS Management**, add records in the empty rows, then click **Save Changes**.

## Available record types

| Type | Use | Example |
| --- | --- | --- |
| A | Points the domain to a server IP | `@ → 203.0.113.10` |
| CNAME | A subdomain that follows another name | `www → yourdomain.com` |
| MX | Sets the mail server, with priority | `@ → mx.mailhost.com (10)` |
| SPF (txt) | TXT records such as SPF and ownership checks | `v=spf1 include:… ~all` |
| URL Redirect | Redirects the domain to another URL | `https://example.com` |

The `@` sign means the domain itself, with no subdomain. To forward email to another address without hosting, "Email Forwarding" is available as a paid yearly addon.

## FAQ

### Is DNS Management free?

Yes, free for every supported domain registered with us.

### I edited records and nothing changed.

Changes usually take up to 24 hours. Also make sure the domain uses the registrar's DNS servers, not another host's nameservers.

### I can't find DNS Management or Addons.

Your extension does not support it (such as .sa). Open a [support ticket](https://www.hyyat.com/en/knowledgebase/open-support-ticket/) and we will help you point it.

### I want Google or Microsoft email.

Add the MX and TXT records the provider gives you, as in the table.
